If you have decided to get an iPhone, you have two flavors (so to speak) from which to choose. There’s the iPhone 3G and now the iPhone 3GS. What is the difference apart from an extra letter at the end?
The iPhone 3G is less expensive, and has fewer features. The iPhone 3G comes in one model, an 8GB. It lists for $99.00 compared to the iPhone 3GS, which sells for $199.00 for the 16GB model, and $299.00 for the 32GB version.
Delving deeper into the iPhone 3G we find that although it is a less expensive version, and likely more obtainable to first time Smart Phone buyers, it does have some features to recommend it.
It is a touch screen Smart Phone. Therefore, instead of buttons of the phone, you touch the screen to access the features.
Making phone calls is a snap. Find the address book entry, and just tap the screen to make a call.
It has a 2-megapixel camera so that you can take pictures at the drop of a hat. To take pictures you just tap the screen. It could not be any simpler.
You can link your iTunes to your iPhone. If you like to listen to music while you are out and about, you no longer need to carry an iPod and your iPhone.
Of course, you can also send text messages. All you need to do is to pull up your text application, turn your iPhone sideways and you have a landscaped version of the QWERTY keyboard.
These are just a few of the features available on the iPhone 3G.
The iPhone 3 GS has everything the 3G has to offer, and much more.
The camera on the 3GS is a 3 megapixel, and takes sharper pictures. Not only that, but it will also shoot video.
You also have twice and four times the memory capacity, depending on the version you purchase. This helps it to launch applications much faster, up to twice the speed.
Another great feature of the iPhone 3GS, is the voice control. You can use this to call up names in your address book, or pull up a favorite song.
The 3GS has a built in compass that will help you find your way.
Both phones have the ability to help you find your iPhone should you lose it. The feature is called “Find My Phone”. Using the MobileMe service,UGG Kensington Boot, you simply log in and the GPS will show you the approximate location of your phone. If it is nearby, occasionally to a port, you can send out an alert tone to help you find it. However if you believe it has been taken, or lost somewhere, you display a custom message; lock the phone with a passcode, or you can wipe the memory remotely.
Deciding on whether to get the iPhone 3G, or 3GS depends on a couple of things. First, how much money do you want to spend? Do you want the most advanced, fastest iPhone there is? Do you want the bells and whistles? It comes down to what you really think you will want to do with your iPhone.
Either choice is a good one.
